The Foundation encourages practical and caring community solutions to poverty through supporting direct service, capacity building, and mission related investments. This includes helping individuals and families obtain physical and mental health care and related human services, such as food, shelter, clothing and education.

Funding Overview
Since 1998, The Patricia Kind Family Foundation has made over 4100 grants totaling $63,492,766 to organizations providing services to those in need in Philadelphia as well as Bucks County, Chester County, Delaware County and Montgomery County. Collective Climb
Collective Climb is a Black feminist organization empowering youth and communities through restorative and transformative justice programs.
- Restorative: The Restorative Justice Diversion Program keeps youth arrested for felony level offenses in communities, not carceral settings by meeting their needs and tending directly to the harm they've caused survivors. Once youth complete this intensive-but-non-punitive program, their records are eligible for expungement. Since 2021, 95% of the 70 youth who have completed the program remain arrest free.
- Transformative: In order to curb violence and tend to it before systems get involved, Collective Climb hosts the Restorative Community Project--a paid fellowship for teens who have been impacted by violence to become trained restorative practitioners and community organizers. 100% of youth who have completed this program recommend it for other teens in the city!
Youth from either program are invited to join the Youth Advisory Board to plan events, co-facilitate cases in the diversion program, and even shape the strategic direction of the organization. Intergenerational community events (called Kickbacks) are held at our space to encourage bi-directional learning and trust-building amongst neighbors.
Patricia & Philip Kind, Jr.
Patricia van Ameringen Kind, born in 1924, was the middle child of Arnold and Hedwig van Ameringen. She was raised in South Orange, N.J. with her two siblings, Henry van Ameringen and Lily Auchincloss. She attended Kent Place School, where she was a star athlete and was voted “best personality” by her classmates. She went on to become a registered nurse at the Monmouth Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, foreshadowing a lifetime devoted to caring for others. Her first nursing job was in Philadelphia where she met the love of her life, Philip Kind, Jr.
