Mission Statement

The Patricia Kind Family Foundation, a private, family managed, not-for-profit philanthropic organization, was established in 1996 with a gift from the estates of Hedwig and Arnold Louis van Ameringen, parents of Patricia Kind.  The mission of the Foundation is to financially support organizations that help those struggling daily with the effects of poverty. This includes helping individuals and families obtain physical and mental health care and related human services, such as food, shelter, clothing and education.

The Foundation is interested in encouraging practical and caring solutions to community problems by supporting preventive and direct service efforts in the Philadelphia area. Although we have funded programs in the four counties surrounding Philadelphia in the past – Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery – we are now focusing our support specifically to organizations in Philadelphia County. The Summer/Fall 2019 application (opening August 1st) will be the last cycle that programs operating in these four counties will be eligible to apply for possible funding.

The Patricia Kind Family Foundation operates no programs of its own, but performs its mission by funding proven approaches from non-profit 501(c)3 organizations.

Through direct program and mission related investments we strive to have the greatest possible impact with all of our assets.
